Mission Statement
Mission Statement: To be a community that builds people into passionate followers of Christ through love and service.

On January 20, 1995, with a group of about 50 people present, Covington First Church of the Nazarene determined the mission and direction it should go. Within this Mission Statement is a great deal of thought and prayer. Allow us to explain what it means by defining some key words found in our mission.

Community: It is our desire that we be a community and not just gatherers for an event. One person described the difference like this; "We want to be a cluster of grapes intimately connected to the vine - not a box of marbles who make noise but are not connected."

Connection happens in a smaller setting and small groups are a vital part of any church/organization. That is why we emphasize connection with a small group such as the Choir, Praise team, Sunday School, kitchen crew, cell group or anywhere you have an interest and would like to be a part.

Builds: We really want to be about building you up. It is our belief that we live in a negative and critical world and the church should be a sanctuary from that.

Passionate Followers: It is God's design and desire that we follow Him with all of our heart and soul. It is our desire that we would do all that we can to foster that kind of devotion.

We would admit that often our actions are less than perfect. However, our intentions can be right as we follow His leading.

Christ: The Bible teaches that it is through Christ alone that we are saved. It teaches that we get in on His ticket and not our own good works.

Love: One great theologian was asked what the greatest biblical truth he ever discovered was. Without hesitation his response was, "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so." More that anything else, our church wants to demonstrate Christ's love and say to you that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.

Service: Because Christ's love has become a reality we want to share that love with others and we do that through acts of service.

It is not our design to be consumers only, but providers through random acts of kindness. We have found that one of the ways we become a passionate follower is by serving others. A real key to growth is finding your niche and sharing it with the community of faith and to individuals who have never experienced the Love of Christ.
